A new 180,000 square foot elementary school featuring three two-story classroom wings, a single-story kindergarten classroom wing, and a second-floor media center. The school includes a gymnasium with a stage that opens into the cafeteria, a DAO suite, a learning stair (a tiered presentation area connecting the first and second floors), two STEM classrooms, and a media center. Firewalls are installed to separate the three classroom wings and the kindergarten wing from the rest of the building. The structural system incorporates a combination of steel framing in the media center area and masonry bearing walls, along with masonry shear walls for lateral support. Steel-framed floor beams support a concrete slab on a metal deck, while steel roof beams support a metal roof deck. The foundations consist of spread footings, and the curved entrance canopies are constructed with steel framing.
